Haight Clothing Entrelugar

Pedro Perdigão

Searching for meaning in the emptiness between places, a woman dives into a journey through different planes. Starring Larissa Almeida, with voiceover by Juçara Marçal reciting part of Arnaldo Antunes’ poem “Debaixo d’Água”, the “Entrelugar” received awards in some of the most prestigious international competitions, such as the Berlin Indie Film Festival (Germany), Mannheim Arts and Film Festival (Germany), Mykonos International Film Festival (Greece) and others.

The film is divided into 4 main moments and the soundtrack comes in as a fundamental factor in setting up rhythm. The first part begins with melancholy and a lonely walk along the beach, until the character feels a metaphysical calling and sets out in search of the unknown, with the sound reinforcing this crescendo. In the second part, the song stops leaving only the ambient beach sounds and the waves to complete the scene, ending with an entrance into a portal leading to a supernatural space. In the third part, inside this universe which blends the unknown with uterine comfort, surreal percussion makes intimacy fuse with strangeness, highlighting revealing discoveries regarding existence. In the final part, the dive toward self-knowledge is made definite and literal, beginning with submerged scenes and ending with an exit from the water back to the real world, accompanied by music bringing hope and pointing to a future of self-knowledge and security.
