Haight Clothing Entrelugar
Pedro Perdigão
In search of purpose in the void between places, a woman dives into a journey across different planes. Starring Larissa Almeida and featuring the voice of Juçara Marçal reciting part of the poem “Debaixo d’água” by Arnaldo Antunes, the film “Entrelugar” received gold awards at several important international festivals, such as the Berlin Indie Film Festival (Germany), Mannheim Arts and Film Festival (Germany) and Mykonos International Film Festival (Greece).
The film is divided into four main moments, with the soundtrack playing a fundamental role in setting the rhythm. The first part begins filled with melancholy, following a solitary walk along the beach, until the character feels a metaphysical call and confidently moves toward the unknown, with the music reinforcing this build-up. In the second part, the music stops and only the ambience of the beach and the waves is enough to complete the scenes, which end with the entrance into a portal that leads her into a supernatural space. In the third part, within this universe that blends the unknown with a womb-like sense of comfort, surreal percussion allows intimacy to merge with strangeness, highlighting revealing discoveries about one’s own existence. Finally, in the last part, the dive toward self-discovery becomes definitive and literal, beginning with underwater scenes and ending with the return from the water to the real world, accompanied by music that brings hope and points toward a future of self-knowledge and security.
